Webdesk, TNI Siliguri, 17th January, 2015: “I am happy to play the innings”, the Siliguri lad Wriddhiman Saha (Papali, his nick name) said after scoring 166 in Ranji Trpohy against Jammu & Kashmir just after returning from Australia tour on Sunday. “There, in Australia, I knew, how to play the renowned pacers like Ryan Harries, still, somehow I was unable to score very good. However, I have learnt so many things from the tour and that experience will make my cricket better”, Papali added. According to him, now he is much more mature and confident to face any kind of pace attack from any country. Currently he is concentrating on playing more and more matches which will in turn help him a lot for upcoming big matches. “I understand that, it’s very hard to maintain the place in Indian cricket team as there are so many good players battling for the ‘Blue Jersey’. It’s very important for me to keep scoring big runs in each domestic match.  Being selected for the national team is very hard but much harder is to keep the position”, said Saha. Papali knows that, Dinesh Karthik is already there in the competitors list. Karthik has experience of playing in international level and he has also played very well in domestic cricket. When Papali was asked regarding his future plan in this context, he replied, “As of now, my total involvement will be to continue scoring as much as possible. There are lots of upcoming matches in my hand to showcase my performance and I am confident that, I will do better in forthcoming matches.” Papali’s home city fans are very much eager to see their Siliguri hero to reach new heights in test cricket especially in the post Dhoni days.
